  1. Yay, someone else who likes the original Star Wars trilogy – awesome! πŸ˜€

    PS! The prequel trilogy was a disappointment to me. I just don’t like those three movies.

    1. =D

      I know a ton of people don’t like the prequels, and I totally understand. That being said, I love them. They aren’t as good, and Hayden Christensen can’t act. But in my mind, they are still Star Wars and I still get a lot out of them. Like the originals, I still find them very fun to watch. What specifically did you find disappointing?

      1. I actually didn’t mind the acting that much and they weren’t exactly bad movies, but… The prequels just don’t have the heart and approachability of the old trio. Also, there’s simply too much CGI – I will always prefer puppet-Yoda over the computer generated one.

        1. That’s actually makes a lot of sense. I’ve always sort of swooned at beautiful CGI, viewing it as awesome advances to be able to do things in film you wouldn’t normally get to. Like the fight with Yoda and Dooku. But I actually have a similar sentiment with Doctor Who. Although my favorite Doctor is from the current show, the Classic show didn’t really have a budget. The past couple of season have been missing the beautiful relationship building and exposition that made classic who so great, as they’ve dropped it in favor if flashy stories.

          But I’ve never actually heard that thought applied to Star Wars before. Most of the people I’ve talked to have said they don’t like the prequels because they are bad movies or because they didn’t feature darth vader just killing everybody. I appreciate you.

          1. Thanks πŸ™‚ I also love what modern CGI can do, I just don’t like it when the story suffers in the name of everything flashy.

            And BTW, you won’t believe this, but – I just noticed episode IV is on local TV right now. How’s that for a coincidence πŸ˜€

  2. Awwww… no more info than that? What about the fact that ‘Star Wars’ is actually six films (or two trilogies, I suppose)? Do you discount the existence of the other three or just don’t like them?

    1. I’m working on a blog elaborating but it’s taking me a really long time because there is a lot to talk about! Oh, I love the prequels. They just aren’t quite as good as the original, when you’re looking at it from a critical stand point. While all of Star Wars has always been a huge part of my life, there’s a certain joy to watching the originals. There’s just so much brilliance in there. Great acting, great story in the style of an epic, great special effects. I mean, the special effects in these movies were revolutionary. Oh, look, you’ve gone and gotten me started.
