Most Anticipated Games

Upcoming games that I am most excited about, in no particular order. For my most anticipated game, check out the gaming front page.

Batman: Arkham Knight

The game’s main story line is set one year after the events of Batman: Arkham City and follows Batman, at the peak of his ability, as he confronts the super villain Scarecrow, who has returned to Gotham City to unite Batman’s enemies in a plot to finally kill the Dark Knight.

Why I’m excited: I mean, look at that footage! As a fan of the previous games, I’m very excited to get my hands on the newest installment to the series. Also, I love Scarecrow. It’s set to be released some time in 2015.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity

Beginning in Paris just at the start of the French Revolution (1789), the story follows Arno Dorian as he trains as an Assassin’s and sets out to expose the powers behind the revolution.

Why I’m excited: Again, look at this trailer. Despite the controversy, the game really does look awesome. I’ve been a fan of the series for awhile. And while I couldn’t finish 3, and I never got the change to play Black Flag, I remain hopeful that this title will feature a character I can enjoy. It is set to be released October 28, 2014.

The Sims 4

Why I’m excited: I have always been a fan of The Sims. I loved the total control of the second game and the customization options of the third game. This game is said to bring together elements of both, as well as the inclusion of body sliders and other stuff that was previously only available as a mod and made all of your sims interact with each other and objects strangely. The game is to be released September 2, 2014.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

A cataclysmic event plunges the land of Thedas into turmoil. Dragons darken the sky, casting a shadow over lands on the brink of chaos. Mages break into all-out war against the oppressive templars. Nations rise against one another. It falls to you and your allies to restore order as you lead the Inquisition and hunt down the agents of chaos.

Why I’m excited: When I want to play Dragon Age, I typically have to choose between story and gameplay. DA:O has an amazing story, but DA2 has more enjoyable gameplay. So far, DA:I looks like it’s going to bring in the best of both worlds. See also: The 15+ articles I’ve written on the game. This is to be released October 7, 2014.

The Order: 1886

As Galahad, a member of an elite order of Knights, join a centuries-old war against a powerful threat that will determine the course of history forever.

Why I’m excited: The game just looks really awesome. I love 3rd person shooters, and I love big story fantasies. So far, this game appears to be delivering in spades. It is to be released February 20, 2015.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Geralt’s new mission comes in dark times as the mysterious and otherworldly army known as the Wild Hunt invades the Northern Kingdoms, leaving only blood soaked earth and fiery ruin in its wake; and it seems the Witcher is the key to stopping their cataclysmic rampage

Why I’m excited: I haven’t played either of the previous games. The Witch 2 has been on my list for quite some time now, but this trailer, and the E3 presentation, has convinced me that this game with give me story, character, gameplay, and some fantasy action. It is set to be released on February 24, 2014.

700 years in the future, the solar system is littered with the remains of humanities golden age, as humanity has pulled back into the last city on earth. A massive, mysterious alien object hangs overhead of our City like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it’s here for, but only that it is our protector. This Guardian of Earth is known as the Traveler. Meanwhile, foreign creatures creep in from the the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and its Last City.We are Guardians, tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters, and – eventually – overcoming their threat.

Why I’m excited: While I’ve never been a fan of 1st person games, the story looks amazing and the gameplay looks beautiful. As the most expensive video game ever made, there are a lot of expectations for this massive RPG. On top of that, watching the trailer gives me a sort of Mass Effect feel and, while I fully expect the games to be totally different, that does a lot to get me excited for the game. As a sort of mythic science fiction, I’m 100% on board. The game is set to be released September 9, 2014.
